Montgomery County schools to require proof of COVID vaccine from employees

Maryland

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (WDVM) — Montgomery County Public Schools are requiring employees to provide proof of a COVID vaccine.

All employees must show verification of their first dose by Sept. 30 and must be fully vaccinated by Oct. 29. They previously had the option of weekly testing.

Only medical exemptions will be allowed.

Interim Superintendent Monifa Knight also announced that the state will provide the district with rapid tests by next week, and this should prevent more students from being quarantined.

“We knew that until this pandemic ended, students would be impacted and staff would be impacted,” said Knight. “But we want to stay true to our commitment that which is if that is the case and someone has to be quarantined, how can we still provide meaningful instruction to them.”
