Medical professionals: Marijuana does not cause psychosis

Maryland

A study done by Lancet Psychiatry is causing controversy in the community.

Hagerstown medical professionals say that marijuana does not cause psychosis but rather there is a correlation. The connection is in the daily use of cannabis and increased THC, says Hagerstown therapist Crystal Rice.

This study does not claim to say that marijuana causes psychosis,” Rice says, It just says that there seems to be a little bit of a marriage between high rates of marijuana use with psychotic episodes.

CBD is the oil that most use for relaxation, she added, and THC is different.

Susan McVey, a Green Health Doc nurse in Hagerstown was livid about various media claims that there is a link between smoking weed and psychosis.

The nurse said that “link” was too strong of a word to use and that correlation does not equal causation.
