UPDATE: MCPD investigating “suspicious death” as a homicide

UPDATE (1/5 10:20 a.m.): Montgomery County Police say they are now investigating a “suspicious death” Monday in Germantown as a homicide.

Police identified the victim as Russell Troy Huffman, 38, of Germantown. Huffman lived in the apartment where his body was found, according to police.

Police say they reported to the apartment on the 20000 block of Frederick Road at 4:54 p.m, for a report of a person who was not breathing. Upon arrival, police found Huffman suffering from “trauma to his upper body.” He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say Hoffman’s body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore, where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.

It is unclear if a suspect has been identified. An investigation is ongoing, and there is no further information available.
