It’s been a long time coming, but the Maryland Theatre is now preparing for one of the largest construction projects.
The Maryland Theatre is currently preparing for a 30,000 square foot expansion. The project will include five levels to extend the front of the theater with two goals in mind: to provide six additional rental spaces for future and expanded programming as well as to improve the A.D.A. accessibility.
This is a dream that has been in the works since the early 70’s when a fire destroyed the front part of the theatre.
“Really what became a catalyst was several years ago when a plaster fell from the ceiling is really when our community decided to pay attention to the needs of the community and see it as a catalyst for economic development and for downtown revitalization,” said Executive Director Jessica Green.
Officials anticipate the project to begin early May.
