According to AAA, prices at the pump are less than they were last week in Maryland.
Maryland’s statewide gas price average for Friday is $2.78 which is down two cents than the last week, and 9 cents higher than the last month and 5 cents lower than on this date last year.
Looking specifically at Hagerstown, today’s price is $2.75 for regular unleaded gasoline, while a week ago it was $2.80. A month ago, the cost was $2.69, but it’s ultimately lower than last year at this time where gas was $2.85 per gallon.
“Current oil prices actually hover between the $61 and $63 per barrel mark this week and that is just a reaction to a potential demand threat posed by China and the United States,” said Ragina Cooper Averella, Manager, Public and Government Affairs of AAA.
Increased supplies of gasoline along the east coast, along with crude oil prices below $63 this week have helped to keep gas prices in check.
