Hagerstown’s Area Religious Council changed their plans Friday morning with the scattered showers but didn’t let that affect their Good Friday walk.
The council moved their walk indoors and commemorated the passion and death of Jesus Christ with seven stations of scripture readings, meditation and prayer. Depicted in the Bible, Simon of Cyrene carried the cross for Jesus, so guests were encouraged to take turns carrying a cross between scripture readings.
“We should come together, not just in our own church and own denominations but to also show our unity as Christians,” said Planning Team Chair Ed Poling. “And, to proclaim the message of peace and hope for the world.”
H.A.R.C. hosts a Good Friday walk every year, but Friday’s indoor walk was the first of its kind.
