Following a nation-wide competition, a Bester Community crossing guard has made it in the top three for America’s favorite crossing guard.
Competing in Safe Kids Worldwide’s contest, Sarah Mason received enough votes to outrank 150 other crossing guards in the nation.
And according to Safe Kids, the competition’s goal is to raise awareness about how crossing guards keep kids and pedestrians safe.
“It’s one of the biggest things we’ve learned the past couple weeks, it’s really how much the school crossing guards do in our community and how much they help us keep the kids safe in this community,” said Kelly Llewellyn of Safe Kids Washington County and Meritus Medical Center’s injury prevention coordinator.
The final ranking for America’s Favorite Crossing Guard will be announced in February.
