The League of Women Voters for Frederick and Washington County held a candidate forum for the candidates running for the sixth congressional district.
There were ten candidates present from both parties who each answered questions on a wide range of topics including: the economy, education, foreign policy and gun violence. The forum was held as a way to keep those in Western Maryland informed for the upcoming primaries.
“Well, I think so often this part of the state does not have a lot of exposure from the standpoint of candidates, so we thought it was important for Washington County and Frederick County to combine and have it here in Hagerstown,” said Melanie Cox, a director of the Maryland League of Nursing Board.
The primaries in Maryland will take place on June 26.
