Hundreds treated to a free health check up on Valentine’s Day

Have you ever thought about treating yourself to a free health check up on Valentine’s Day?
Nearly a hundred people stopped by the student services center at Hagerstown Community College to do just that. Senior nursing students checked people’s blood sugars and blood pressure pulses. Officials say while we are living longer, the American Heart Association is now encouraging blood pressure to be at a lower standard than before, so it’s important to check your blood pressure early.
“Until they become uncomfortable, have a headache, feel sick they don’t have the vital signs measured or if they are already on medications, so this is a great opportunity to just check where the base lines at,” said Lori Manilla, Assistant Professor at Hagerstown Community College.
Officials say it’s important to take time to relax, even if that means taking 10 to 15 minutes to walk around the neighborhood.
