Helping people with Medicare choices

Maryland

The age of 65 is around the time people should look into Medicare and the types of coverage it provides.

So that’s why, the Washington County Commission on Aging wants to help people understand all the intricacies of Medicare. As a part of the State Health Insurance Program they are now providing free one-on-one confidential and in-person counselling.

The program manager says they are assisting people with everything from Medicare benefits, bills, and rights people have when it comes to Medicare.

“It goes over all of the Medicare parts, how they all work, how to access them, and then it also addresses concerns of low income beneficiaries, and helps people better understand the programs, and benefits that are out there that can help reduce their financial burden associated,” said Amanda Distefano.

The Commission on aging also offers monthly new to Medicare workshops helping people understand all the parts of Medicare.
