Hagerstown woman gives breakfast meals to 20 families

Maryland

A Hagerstown woman gave out 20 breakfast meals to families in need Tuesday.

Holly Harryman Ritchey has the Snyder Avenue Blessing Box on her porch, where people can leave donations or pick up items when they are in need.

Since opening the blessing box, the community outreach has expanded and Holly is able to help at least 20 people a day.

This morning she filled bags with pancake mix, syrup, frozen sausages, bananas, butter, milk and eggs; everything someone would need to make the perfect breakfast.

Holly Harryman Ritchey, Founder of the Snyder Blessing Box, said “Hagerstown has a lot of need. I have learned a whole lot since we opened in December of 2017 just how deep that need goes…. we want to do breakfast this month and everyone loves breakfast for dinner once in a while.”

The cold and icy weather didn’t stop the giveaway- recipients walked all the way to Snyder Avenue to get the meal they need to feed their families.

Holly and her husband spent all day giving out the breakfast, picking up last minute items, and packaging it in bags, in order to give these items to those in the community when they arrived.

The Snyder Avenue Blessing Box continues to grow and this has become Holly’s full-time job. even though she doesn’t get paid for her work, she is passionate about giving all her time to help the community she lives in.
