Hagerstown Regional Airport receives more than $5 million to update passenger holding area

Maryland

The Hagerstown Regional Airport will receive $5,400,000 to upgrade their holding room for passengers.

U.S. Senators Ben Cardin and Chris Van Hollen announced Wednesday they were awarded $12,030,000 in federal funding to both the Hagerstown Regional Airport and the Garrett County Airport.

Garrison Plessinger, director of the Hagerstown Regional Airport says the federal funding was awarded through the Department of Transportation. The airport plans to purchase new furniture, expand the square footage and add food and drink vendors to cater to the growing number of passengers coming through the airport.

“The good news is that the Hagerstown regional airport is growing. We’re trying to get customers in and out of here as conveniently as we can and you’re not going to be as crowded in the holding room,” explained Plessinger.

The 18-month project is projected to begin in the Fall.
