Hagerstown man arrested after home invasion

Hagerstown Police have arrested a suspect in connection to a home invasion on Tuesday night.

Robert Smith, 37, was arrested for home invasion, first degree burglary and second degree assault. 

Hagerstown Police responded to the Washingtonian Apartments at 418 West Antietam St. According to Sergeant Andrew Lewis, Smith with another suspect forced themselves into the residence, assaulted the victim then fled before smith was found. Further investigation revealed that Smith and the victim knew each other, and had a personal disagreement. 

“Officers located the victim who had minor injuries and also located some blood at the scene who was used to locate the suspect,” said Sergeant Andrew Lewis.

Smith is currently being held without bond at the Washington County Detention Center. Police are looking for the other suspect described as a white male approximately 19-years-old. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Hagerstown Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit.
