Hagerstown was honored as one of the most bicycle friendly communities in the U.S.
Officials say Hagerstown was ranked out of 464 towns. The award was for they city’s leadership and investment for infrastructure throughout the city. It’s also for education, to inspire people to ride bikes.
City council members say this is something that they are very proud of as a community.
Emily Keller, Hagerstown City council member said, “we have a great bicycle advisory committee that puts a lot of time and effort into grants to make Hagerstown bicycle friendly. It’s a big deal to be bicycle friendly, so I congratulate them with all the hard work they’ve done with our city engineer to turn Hagerstown into a bicycle friendly community.”
The city hopes this can reach the community to let them know they are doing everything possible to make the streets safe for commuters.
