Hagerstown firefighters ‘Fill the Boot’ for Muscular Dystrophy Association

Maryland

You may have seen Hagerstown firefighters standing alongside the road while to and from work.

It is part of the Hagerstown professional firefighters ‘Fill the Boot’ efforts to collect money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) of Greater Maryland for three years now. Firefighters stood outside of the home depot on Garland Groh Boulevard in Hagerstown. Firefighter Justin Malott says they use old boots from previous firefighters and have had lots of people stopping to donate.

“They’re surprised that we’re doing it,” said Justin Malott, Firefighter for the Hagerstown Fire Department. “A lot of people will think that it actually goes to the firefighters and once you explain to the general public, they actually donate really well to muscular dystrophy.”

They are hoping to reach their goal of $15,000. If you would like to help, tomorrow is the last day and they’ll be at the same location in front of Home Depot on Garland Groh Boulevard in Hagerstown.
