Hagerstown Council approves funding for HPD to update their crime camera system

Maryland
The Hagerstown Council approved funding for the Hagerstown Police Department.

The council approved just over $165,000 for the police department to update their crime camera system. The council also approved just over $51,000 to go towards the police department for the purchasing of a software package for evidence. Police Chief Paul Kifer says both purchases will help modernize their efforts for fighting crime.

“Before you knew, we had three or four different systems together and with technology now, we realized that moving to a fiber technology is more stable platform,” said Kifer.

Chief Kifer says they plan to make the purchases before July 1.
