A Hagerstown children’s book author is traveling the states with her series “Paws and Think”.
Author Miranda Mittleman takes her dog “Weaver”, the star of the series, wherever she goes. “Paws and Think” is a children’s book series that’s told through the eyes of a rescue dog.
Mittleman and her dog Weaver brought the series to life with a special concept.
“I help teach children lessons on inclusion, gratitude, and self importance,” Mittleman said.
Each book is a different lesson, through Weavers eyes. The three books that are out right now are titled, “We Are All Different’, “I Am Important” and “Be Thankful For What You Have”.
Mittleman says she wanted her books to be from a child’s perspective so they can relate to Weaver.
“When I wrote the books, I really had in mind children like everything from the child’s perspective so it can relate to Weaver, so you never see any of the adults’ faces in the illustrations it’s really about Weaver and the children,” Mittleman said.
A portion of the proceeds from the books go to charities in Maryland.
“I’ve worked with a lot of animal shelters or animal rescues, I’ve worked with organizations that help children or helps promote literacy, I’m really hoping to branch out and reach larger charities as Paws and Think grows,” she said.
Mittleman was recently on the show “Wheel of Fortune”. The show has chosen to bring her back to do a segment with her about her books.
