The Habitat for Humanity Restore in Hagerstown is starting the new year seeking a variety of donations, particularly building materials.
Local businesses recently came together to donate but the Restore is still in need of help.
The Restore accepts donations like flooring, furniture, lumber, lighting and shutters.
The building materials donated are typically leftover from home projects, which is great for the Restore because often, people don’t need to buy these items in bulk, like what is typically the only option offered from other stores.
100 percent of the proceeds made in the Restore go towards building homes in the community for those in need.
The Restore also recently took out a wall and added an entire section in the store to hold more donated building items, especially the bigger items such as lumber.
Because of the Restore, Habitat for Humanity is able to fund its housing projects, an effort that officials say is often overlooked.
Along with donations, the Restore is always looking for people willing to volunteer within the store.
