Frozen weather, frozen pipes

Over the past few nights, plumbers have been receiving an increased amount of calls for the same issue.

Pipes have been freezing over night due to the colder temperatures. When pipes freeze they are at risk of breaking and stopping water usage in your home.

When the pipes thaw out, they can burst or leak. You can tell that your pipes are freezing when you experience a lack of running water.

Pipes tend to freeze in areas that get colder in the house, such as crawl spaces, basements, and underneath cabinets, specifcally in the kitchen and bathroom.

Plumbers say you can help prevent pipes from freezing by exposing pipes to warm air in cold spaces.

You can do this by leaving doors and cabinets open, especially overnight and on days where the temperature will drop to below freezing.
