Update (2/25 5:48 a.m.): Frederick Police say a disturbance call that escalated to a weapons complaint lead to the shelter in place requested Wednesday night. The incident was deescalated within an hour of the request.
Police say they responded around 6:56 p.m. to Rosencrans Court for a report of a disturbance. On the way, officers were told there were possibly shots fired. The call was escalated to a weapons complaint.
Police say they determined someone carried a firearm into a residence on the street. A perimeter was set up and police contacted the complainant and witnesses. Based on the information they received, detectives applied for and received a search and seizure warrant.
FPD’s Special Response Team and Crisis Negation Team then responded to the scene. When the Special Response Team used a public announcement system on an armored vehicle, two people in the house emerged and were taken into custody.
After being questioned, both were released without charges.
Police say there is an ongoing investigation and anyone with information or that may have home surveillance in the area is asked to contact FPD’s non-emergency line at 301-600-2100.
