“Turn around, don’t drown” is a motto that should be followed when coming across flooded roads.
With the recent heavy rainfall, there were many roads in Washington County that were closed today.
Some of those roads included Cresspond Road, the intersection at Clopper and Old Forge Road, and Leiters Mill Road.
It is important to remain cautious when driving across bridges and over roads where water can quickly rise.
Ward Fleger, assistant chief, operations director and paramedic, said: “The potential for death is very likely if you decide to cross, so please make the right choice. If it takes five minutes longer to get someplace, then so be it.”
Driving on flooded roads can not only cause damage to your vehicle, but it can also put your life as well as the lives of emergency responders at risk.
