Washington County Circuit Court Judge Brett Wilson presented the Washington County Board of Commissioners with a brief presentation regarding adult drug court.
Wilson along with the Day Reporting Center’s, Rebecca Hogamier briefed county commissioners of what’s to come with the newer program.
“As Judge Wilson said, we have an adolescent drug court and Jennifer Bricker that works for the circuit court will be the coordinator of the adult drug court,” said Hogamier.
According to Wilson, drug courts began in Maryland in 1998. Wilson also notes that drug courts reduce crime by approximately 35 percent and the effects last at least three years.
His PowerPoint also suggested that drug courts reduce substance abuse and save lives.
Wilson says there are about 3,000 drug courts across the nation.
