Fire at Hood College caused by a lightning strike

Maryland

FREDERICK, Md. (WDVM) — Frederick County Fire and Rescue Services ruled that the fire that broke out at Hood College last week, was caused by a lightning strike.

The blaze happened overnight on Sept. 9 at Brodbeck Music Hall. Flames were seen on the roof of the three-story building and it took 75 firefighters to put out the fire in 45 minutes.

The building was unoccupied at the time and nobody was hurt. Hood college is hopeful that their oldest  building can be restored.
