Emergency services worker faces assault charges

A Gaithersburg man is facing charges for assaulting a woman while providing her treatment in an ambulance. The assault occurred while he was on duty with Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services.

According to Montgomery County Police, Mario Obando-Rodriguez, 33, of Brenish Drive, is facing three counts of fourth-degree sexual offense, and one count of second-degree assault related to an incident that took place in July.

Detectives said that while employed with Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services, Obando-Rodriguez was providing treatment to a women inside an ambulance on the way to a local hospital when the alleged events occurred. 

Police also said that after inappropriately touching the woman, he then provided her with his phone number.

Obando-Rodriguez was arrested and charged on Friday, November 30. He has since been released on bond.
