Crews are working to repair a massive pothole on the eastbound lanes of I-70 that will temporarily close lanes.
As of 5:10 a.m., several cars were disabled on the eastbound lanes of I-70 at mile marker 19 on Saint Paul Road, according to Maryland State Police. The large pothole is on the right lane on the bridge.
Officials say there were 16 vehicles on the right shoulder who reported damage from the pothole. One man shares the frightening details.
“All of a sudden, it almost sent me airborne. I flew real hard to the left and came back almost sideways and flew across the road until I got control. I mean when you’re hitting a hole like that at 70 miles an hour and your tire instantly deflates, it scares the crap out of you,” said Morgan County Resident Michael DiPasquale.
Officials say they expect the lane to be open by six or seven this evening.
