On Wednesday, the Washington County Public Schools’ Teacher of the Year was announced.

Joshua Edwards, a visual arts teacher from Clear Spring High School, was awarded the honor. Edwards has taught for Washington County Public Schools for 14 years and has been one of the finalist three times. Edwards will receive free Chick-fil-A and a car, also for free, for an entire year. Edwards says even though he likes his gifts, he is happy he is able to make a difference in the lives of his students.

“I’m a teacher because of my students. You know the work that I do is because of my passion for helping inspire my students to create and learn new things,” said Edwards.

Edwards will now represent Washington County in the Maryland State Teacher of the Year program.
