City of Hagerstown approves underpass murals in downtown

Maryland

City officials will begin forming ideas for murals on notable streets in downtown Hagerstown.

City engineer Rodney Tissue says that Hagerstown is looking for a professional artist to create a mural underneath the overpass on Franklin Street.

As for Washington Street, Tissue is hoping to work with the Washington County Board of Education to find art students to paint a mural under this designated area.

Franklin and Washington Street underpasses will have murals while Antietam Street will receive some landscaping work.

According to Tissue, each project will cost about $14,000 and the prospective time of completion is the end of the calender year.
