With the 2020 elections around the corner, the Washington County Board of Elections (BoE) is training local residents to become voter registration volunteers.
According to the BoE, volunteers go out into the community and help people register to vote, and apart from the paper work, the volunteers will learn about the specific requirements that Maryland has for registration as well as becoming aware of the deadlines for the upcoming election.
“We give them a card indicating they received the volunteer training,“ said Kaye Robucci, director of BoE. “And we give them a pack of voter registration applications so they can go out and start getting people registered to vote for the election next year.“
The BoE says they welcome anyone to visit their office and take the training.
