Personal safety apps are something anyone with a smartphone has access too.
There are apps on your phone that you can download that track where you are to help keep you safe at all hours of the day.
One popular safety app is called “BSafe.”
With this app, you can live stream where you are and also activate an alarm by your voice if you are unable to get to your phone.
Emergency officials say it’s also a smart idea to turn on “location settings” on your phone. Through personal experiences, officials believe these different apps can save someone’s life.
“They have the location device its great for kids, I have it on my phone so I know where my kids are at all times. If you’re walking somewhere, you’re by yourself, your phone could save your life knowing what your location is,” Heather Aleshire said, public information officer for Hagerstown Police Department.
Police said they recommend everyone take the time to download a personal safety app.
