Hagerstown Speedway kicked off its 72nd season of racing with the Race-A-Rama car show.
Every year, the cars are brought to the Valley Mall to be put on display.
For the 2019 season, there are 22 cars, coming from Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania. Some of the drivers of these cars are as young as 5 years old.
This annual car show kicks off the beginning of the racing season, and the cars on display will begin racing at the speedway next month.
Doug Timmons, promoter of Hagerstown Speedway said, “March 30 is the opening day and we have the ultimate late model series which pays $3,000 to win. The opener is always a big show… Racing is like a drug. Once you’re hooked, you’re hooked. I think that people that don’t come to the races are missing a lot of entertainment that doesn’t cost a whole lot.”
The cars will stay displayed at the Valley Mall until Sunday.
