Two of the Hagerstown City Police Department’s top officers are new graduates of an FBI leadership course.
Lieutenant Fetchu and Lieutenant Zimmerer completed a four-day course that gave law enforcement officers the chance to talk about current issues and trends going on across the nation. officers were briefed on legislative updates to federal and state law, and what challenges are being faced within law enforcement.
Focus was also spent on suicide rates among law enforcement officers and recruitment and retention within agencies.
“We think it’s always great to make those connections with law enforcement partners particularly in the state of Maryland. It gives us the resources to reach out to other agencies and get to know people, so we can lean on each other and help each other,” said Lt. Fetchu.
The police department says about two to three officers in leadership positions take the course every year.
