Officers with the Hagerstown City Police Department are investigating a shooting that took place early Thursday morning that left one man injured.
Officers said the shooting took place on the Unit Block of Berner Ave around 1:30 a.m.
Witnesses tell WHAG that they were just going outside to smoke a cigarette, but then multiple gun shots rang out, leaving one man injured.
Police said this was an isolated incident and there is no immediate danger to the public.
However, witnesses said they have no idea why they were shot at.
Police officers said they originally responded to Devonshire Road. but later they found the victim and shell cases on Berner Ave.
“We don’t believe that anybody else in the area is any kind of immediate danger. Through the investigation we learned that it’s an isolated incident, but no one likes to see this happening,” Aleshire said.
The victim was taken to Meritus Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries and he is in stable condition.
However, witnesses said just the fact that this man was shot at leaves them feeling uneasy about their own neighborhood.
“We’re asking if anyone who witnessed anything, if anyone was in the area, if you know anything, we’re asking you to call the police department,” Aleshire said.
Witnesses are asked to contact Detective Kayser at 301-790-3700×244.
