Man arrested for having loaded firearms during traffic stop

Deputies with the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office have arrested a man after discovering multiple firearms during a traffic stop.

Just before 11PM on Thursday a deputy with the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office was in the area of Rocky Gap on I-68 when he observed a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed.

The deputy performed a traffic stop. During the traffic stop the driver 54-year-old Jerry Allen Ramsey, of Delaware, admitted to having a handgun in the vehicle.

Officials say as a result of a probable cause search, a loaded .45 caliber pistol and a loaded 9mm pistol were found. The deputy also found numerous controlled medications without prescriptions.

Ramsey has been charged with possession of a firearm during drug trafficking, use of a firearm during commission of a felony, engaged in drug trafficking while armed, wear and carry of a handgun, carry a handgun upon person, possession of CDS no marijuana, possession with intent to distribute.
