It’s a camp favorite: getting to interact with the dogs who protect us every day.
K-9 officers stopped by Maryvale Elementary School Wednesday in Rockville as part of the 10th annual Police Adventure Camp.
This week, kids in Montgomery County got a taste of what a career in the police force is like, from watching demonstrations by SWAT officers and touring police headquarters to exploring Port Discovery in Baltimore.
Community Services Officer Mike Prather said it’s a great way to build trust between locals and law enforcement.
“We don’t want it to happen, but if a child gets lost or separated from their parents, we want the child to feel comfortable and know that they can approach a police officer that they see anywhere at any time,” said Prather.
The week will conclude with a special graduation ceremony on Friday.
