Kayak tours show visitors history at Antietam Creek just before Independence day

While most people are celebrating Independence Day with the forth of July being right around the corner, several people spent the day soaking up civil war history.

About 20 people ventured off to Antietam National Battlefield to take a step back in time with their tour instructor.

Participants enjoyed brunch catered by and then were taken down to Antietam Creek where they paddled down the creek, even floating under Burnside Bridge, one of the most famous sites for the national park and civil war history.

During the tour, the instructor shared stories, giving a better idea of what life was like during the civil war.

River and trail outfitters host the kayaking tours once a month.
