YMCA running at 50 percent due to flood damage

After nearly two weeks of ongoing renovations following flood damages, the YMCA of Frederick County, Maryland is running at about 50 percent efficiency.

Officials say the facility is partly open, with members able to access top level workout spaces, and most recently, the bottom-level pool.

But major construction, at the hands of up to a dozen contracted workers, is still left on the basement-level child development center.

New flooring, drywall, and doors are just some of the areas that need to be fixed.

“Probably the biggest piece within this facility is the child development center. That’s the area that sustained the most damage and we’re probably talking maybe at least another month or two months before that really comes back online,” explained YMCA of Frederick County president, Chris Colville.

Officials hope to have all renovations finished by end of the summer.
