Thurmont man sentenced to 7 years for second-degree rape

A Thurmont, Md. man has been sentenced after he was convicted of second-degree rape earlier this year.

Cody Fowler, 23, will serve seven years after he was found guilty by a jury.

In October of 2016, the female victim became voluntarily intoxicated during a party at a Jefferson, Md., residence, and reported having no memory of the party for hours. When she woke up, she was having severe pain in her lower body.

She went to a local hospital where a sexual assault examination confirmed the injuries and forensic tests identified Fowler as the person who assaulted the victim.  Fowler denied the claims during an investigation.

Fowler will also be registered as a sexual offender for life.
