MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. - While Montgomery County is known for its metropolitan areas and diverse population, that hasn't always been the case.
Alex Tsironis was born and raised in the county and recently began a quest of sorts to discover treasures from it's past.
Through research and help from other residents, Alex has shared over a thousand unique Montgomery County pictures from the '50s through to the '90s.
Those photos show how much of the area, including Montgomery mall and Rio Washingtonian used to be surrounded by nothing but farmland.
Tsironis also developed a personal favorite figure who helped make Montgomery County what it is today.
"I love his story,” said Tsironis. “I love that people told him he can't go past Silver Spring and he went to Gaithersburg and proved everyone wrong and now it's worth $100 million just a few years after moving to the country."
Alex has gained plenty of attention through his work and has turned that passion into a podcast about all things Montgomery County which currently boasts more than 3,000 weekly listeners.
