Students at Montgomery College are using sports, socializing and snacks to commemorate International Day of Peace.
Hundreds gathered on MC’s Germantown campus Wednesday for Soccer for Peace, which is in its 9th year.
The co-ed games welcomed students and faculty.
Montgomery College’s vice president even stepped onto the field as goalie.
The annual event celebrates the community college’s diverse population.
Officials said students from more than 50 countries attended.
“You will see this is a very international and global community,” said Dr. Sanjay Rai, Vice President, Montgomery College. “Sports, and certainly given the history of soccer, it brings people together.”
The event was founded by MC Professor Sally McClean in honor of her husband.
