The storm app is short for statewide transportation operations response map. \
It is designed to help navigate roads whenever winter weather hits the state and find the most recently plowed route.
During storms, the app can track all 2,000+ pieces of snow plow equipment that will be hitting the roads.
“You can use this app and find out where the crews have been,” said Maryland Department of Transportation spokesman Charlie Gischlar. “It leaves a 30 minute history behind it and where they are at the current time when they are moving 10 miles an hour or greater over the speed limit. That way you can kind of use strategy to get behind one of them.”
The app is publicly available online and can be downloaded on your smart phone.
