Six pedestrians struck in one night

Six more Montgomery County residents suffered injuries after being struck by cars during a three hour span on Monday evening, November 12.

The most serious of those incidents took place at the intersection of Beall Avenue and Gibbs Street near Rockville Town Square where a woman was hit and is in critical condition.

Other less serious incidents occurred in Takoma Park, Germantown and Bethesda.

The issue of pedestrian collisions has grown in Montgomery County this year, to the point where council leaders met with Maryland State Highway Administration officials on Tuesday to try and find new solutions.

So far, there have been 11 pedestrian fatalities in 2018 including nine who were killed while traveling along state highways.
