Montgomery County Police have arrested a man who allegedly robbed a Home Depot in Aspen Hill.

Police have charged Luis Andres Portillo, 29, of the 4100 block of Heathfield Road in Rockville, Md. Portillo has been charged with armed robbery, assault and theft offenses.

Police say the investigation revealed the suspect stole a large spool of copper wire from the store and then concealed the spool near a tree line close to the store.  After concealing the wire, the suspect left to retrieve his vehicle which was parked nearby.

Police say employees from the store attempted to retrieve the spool. Portillo allegedly threatened the employees with a knife.

Police say a tipster helped them close the case.
