Montgomery county police have made several arrests but are still looking for several more suspects connected with the death of 40-year-old Gregory Jonathan Atwood.
This week, detectives arrested Mohammed Salous, 17, and charged him as an adult with assault-related offenses.
Kenneth Kapakima, 21, was charged with assault and armed robbery. Those men, along with a female suspect, allegedly jumped Atwood and robbed him near Georgia Avenue.
Police say the robbery was random and Atwood was severally beaten up by his own cane.
After being left in the woods, Atwood crawled back and ended up in the middle of traffic, where he was killed. Both men are being held without bond.
“Detectives believe that due to those injuries, it may have impaired his cognitive ability for him to know where he was or what was going on around him and he did end up on Georgia avenue where he was struck by two cars,” said officer Rick Goodale.
The drivers of those vehicles did not remain on the scene.
Evidence shows that one of the vehicles is possibly a 2011 Chrysler 200 or a 2011 Dodge avenger.
Investigators believe that the second vehicle involved in this collision is a light-colored dodge Durango.
