A Frederick man is behind bars on charges of drug possession, but he also faces an investigation into rape allegations.

According to the Frederick Police Department, officers responded to the 1300 block of David Lane after a female victim called to report that she had been raped early Tuesday morning.

Officers say the victim identified the home where the rape happened and inside they found 37-year-old Christopher Alexander.

Alexander was taken to police quarters to be questioned about the rape investigation.

Police later obtained a search warrant for the home and found significant amounts of marijuana and illegal drugs.

“He is being charged with possession and possession to distribute non-marijuana. We found PCP and other narcotics in his house. He is still under investigation for the rape, but at this time, rape charges are not pending,” explained Sgt. Andrew Alcorn with the Frederick Police Department.

Police say the female victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Alexander is being held at the Frederick County Adult Detention Center.
