If you’re heading down I-270 in Frederick you’ll need to be aware of a major ramp closure.
On Monday, The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration closed down exit 31-A that leads to northbound MD-85 onto Buckeystown Pike.
Officials say the closure is necessary to allow crews to match ramp pavement elevations within the interchange.
The ramp is undergoing construction as a part of a $58 million project aimed at reducing traffic congestion and fixing two structurally deficient bridges.
Officials say that motorists are directed to use eastbound I-70 and to exit at MD-85.
Officials expect the ramp to re-open just before Memorial Day.
After the ramp improvements are complete, officials say the next phase will include shifting traffic to the new I-270 Bridge over MD-85.
