There’s been a polling place change for one location when it comes to the November’s general election in Frederick County, Maryland.
This polling change is for residents who reside in the Urbana area. The polling place is being changed from the Urbana Volunteer Fire Department Social Hall to the brand new Sugarloaf Elementary School.
Board of elections officials say this precinct voted at the Urbana Fire Hall during the primary election because their old polling place, Urbana Elementary is in the process of being rebuilt. Board of elections officials say this change will impact 2,000 registered voters in that precinct.
“We used the fire hall in the Primary because the school that we wanted to use, Sugarloaf Elementary wasn’t open, but it is opening this Fall. It’s a brand new school, it’s accessible, it has a lot of parking; it’s just a more useful location for us,” said Frederick County Board of Elections Director, Stuart Harvey.
Board of elections officials say people who are impacted by this change will be getting a card in the mail, which shows their new polling location and address.
They added that if people are not registered to vote, the voter registration deadline in Maryland is October 16 at 9 p.m. People can register at the Board of Elections, or online.
