It was in the parking lot of a Silver Spring shopping center when police responded to calls of a late-night argument.

“Shortly before 11 p.m. last night, officers were called to the parking lot of 8528 Piney Branch Road for a report of a dispute going on in the parking lot between a group of males,” explained spokesperson for the Montgomery County Department of Police, Rick Goodale.

By the time officers arrived, 30-year-old Edras Armando Munoz was suffering from life-threatening injuries.

“He was transported to local hospital where he did succumb to his injuries so at this time we are investigating this as a homicide,” Goodale said.

Detectives were on the scene until about 4 a.m. Thursday sweeping through the parking lot for any traces of evidence.

“There was items of evidence left by the victim so officers were busy photographing, collecting, tagging any evidence. It’s a very painstaking, laborious process- especially when you’re dealing with a homicide,” Goodale explained.

With no suspects immediately identified, Goodale says officers will return to the shopping center and seek out surveillance footage from neighboring buildings.

“Detectives are hoping that somebody may have seen something and will give a call and give us some more info,” Goodale said.

The police department is offering a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information.
