Police are investigating a shooting that happened early Sunday morning in downtown Frederick.
The Frederick Police Department responded to the 100 block of North Market Street at about 1:30 AM to reports of a shooting.
Officers found a man with a gunshot wound to the abdomen area. The victim was rushed to a local hospital.
Police say the suspect escaped, and that they have reason to believe an argument with the victim may have spurred the incident.
“There was a confrontation with the suspect out on the sidewalk. During that confrontation the victim was shot. There’s no indication right now that they knew each other, there’s no indication this is gang-related,” explained Sgt. Andrew Alcorn with the Frederick Police Department.
Police say the victim is in serious, but stable condition.
Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact police.
