Police hold school shooter drills

The Takoma Park Police Department will be holding a series of active shooter drills in their community over the next eight days.

The sound of gun fire is to be expected as police officials stage drills to help their officers respond to in-school attackers.

These drills will be held at the John Nevins Andrews School until December 20.

These drills will place a renewed emphasis on aggressive police tactics and confronting suspected school shooters as soon as possible.

“They must prepare for these active shooter incidents,” said Deputy Chief Antonio Willaims. “You can no longer afford to wait because the clock is ticking and every second that you wait means that lives could be lost.”

Nearly 50 officers will take part in the drill, which officials now plan to hold as an annual police exercise.
