Pedestrian dies in White Oak car accident

WHITE OAK, Md. (WDVM) — Update: A man who was struck while walking in the White Oak area on Thursday afternoon has died, Montgomery County police said on Friday morning.

Police said the victim, David Rafael Velasquez of Silver Spring, died from his injuries at the hospital later that night.

According to the police investigation, a 17-year-old driver was making a right turn onto McCeney Avenue from New Hampshire Avenue, when she left the roadway and struck a stop sign. Then she continued driving across the service road and onto the sidewalk, striking Velasquez. Police do not know yet why the driver left the roadway.


A man has life-threatening injuries after a vehicle struck him at New Hampshire Ave and McCeney Ave in the White Oak area of Montgomery County, Maryland.

Montgomery County Police Department said the incident happened around 12:30 p.m. on Thursday. No one involved has been identified. The investigation is ongoing.
